The Humanities Building houses several academic departments and programs for the College of Humanities including:
• Department of History
• Department of Philosophy
• International, Asian and Latin American Studies Programs
• Obert C. and Grace A. Tanner Humanities Center
Instructional and formal and informal meeting spaces are designed to encourage discussion and collaboration between faculty, students and the community. The Humanities Building is home to two large lecture halls, several seminar rooms, conference rooms and group study spaces. Reading rooms, courtyards and an outdoor labyrinth round out the facility’s amenities.
The Humanities Building meets sustainable design standards of silver or gold LEED™, which added between 5 and 7 percent to the overall initial cost of the project. To save approximately $100,000, the University did not seek LEED™ certification, but still achieved sustainable goals.
