The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Church History Library - Total Building Commissioning (TBC ) provided building commissioning services including LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) commissioning at the new five-floor, 250,000 sq. ft. Church History Library. Mechanical systems commissioned included HVAC for library, office, archive, and holding storage areas. The holding storage areas included secure and high-security holding and storage facilities which required high levels of protection from contaminants as well as extremely high levels of temperature and humidity control.

More Project Information >

Constant and variable air volume air handlers with desiccant dehumidifiers and heat recovery systems were used to ensure the high levels of temperature and humidity control necessary for a library and archives facility of this caliber. The building houses long-term storage used cryogenic storage capabilities that required very strict temperature (maintaining constant -4 degrees F) and precise humidity control.

Also commissioned were high-level gas fire suppression and early detection fire alarm systems which utilized an air sampling smoke detection system and sprinkled and inert gas suppression systems.

TBC commissioned the following:

• LEED® commissioning
• Gas fire suppression systems
• Early fire detection systems
• HVAC systems
• Constant and variable air volume air handlers with desiccant dehumidifiers
• Electrical power distribution systems
• Emergency and UPS power systems
• Plumbing systems
