City of Tempe East Valley Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility - This $30 million, 102,350 sq. ft. facility is owned and operated by the cities of Tempe and Scottsdale, AZ, along with Valley Metro, the regional transit authority. This facility services and washes 250 buses daily as well as fuels the entire natural gas bus fleet. The 25-acre complex includes a 74,400 sq. ft. maintenance building, 12,895 sq. ft. of fuel and wash space, and a 19,650 sq. ft. administration and operations space.

The Bus Maintenance and Operations Facility is registered as a LEED™ Gold building and the remainder of the project has received Silver certification, making it the largest and one of the first bus maintenance facilities in the United States to receive LEED™ certification. Sustainable design for this project involved site selection, light pollution reduction, water efficiency design, energy and atmosphere, materials, indoor environmental quality and innovative design.

The TBC team reviewed the overall design for LEED™ compliance and provided commissioning services of the following systems:
