Utah State University Wetlands Discovery Lab at Utah Botanical Center - The Wetlands Discovery Lab is a LEED Platinum registered 3,200 sq. ft. hands-on nature discovery facility operated by Utah State University. The facility houses a classroom and offices as well as restroom facilities and showers, a mechanical room and storage areas. A glass hallway offers views of and information about the wetland area and connects the Discovery Lab to a boardwalk that takes visitors across portions of the wetlands including a pond.

The Discovery Lab is certified LEED® Platinum and features sustainable building materials. It was designed to conserve energy through a high-efficiency ground-source heat pump for heating and cooling, in-floor radiant heating and natural ventilation with ceiling fans. A photovoltaic array providse solar water heating and solar power generation for the building. Water conservation techniques included rainwater harvesting.

Total Building Commissioning commissioned all energy-related systems including:

• Heating
• Air conditioning
• Mechanical
• Plumbing (including solar water heating systems)
• Electrical systems (including power and solar)
